About
Dr. Hannah R. Saltzman

I was born and raised in Paris, France, and moved to the United States to attend Smith College in Massachusetts. I graduated with a double-major in Psychology and English Literature in 2016. After graduating, I worked as a data analyst for the pharmaceutical industry. I quickly realized I did not want to dedicate any of my time to an industry who so openly took advantage of human suffering.
My curiosity for the human condition led me to return to school in 2017. I was accepted into Palo Alto University in California, where I would graduate and earn my PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2022. My academic focus was in abnormal psychology, sex & gender identities, geriatric psychology, and neuropsychology. My dissertation explored the concept of intolerance of uncertainty and its impact on mental health.
Throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse range of populations—teens, young adults, older adults, and individuals facing serious mental health challenges, including substance misuse, psychosis, grief, domestic violence, anger management, and complex trauma. I also worked with marginalized populations, including the LGBTQIA+ community, neurodivergent teens & adults, older adults with varying forms of dementia, people with a history of incarceration, as well individuals who are unhoused during my time as a doctoral intern with LA County.
It was at LA County that I encountered many stark examples of the limitations of the traditional mental health system. While it offers valuable support to some, it does not serve everyone. During my time there, I continued to witness the pharmaceutical industry influence and exploit the individuals that LA County called their most vulnerable.
Watching the system neglect, fail and abuse so many people led me to change my career path. After completing my PhD, I chose not to pursue licensure or a full-time position in the traditional mental health field. Instead, I turned toward alternative paths for healing—exploring Eastern philosophies, nature-based therapies, honoring the sacredness of grief, and integrative approaches that bring our spirit back to the body, to community, nature and creativity. I continue to become increasingly drawn to the power of play, nature, sexuality, art, animals, and the deep connection between ourselves, the universe, and the eternal process of change that shapes all of us.
Today, I work as a healer, supporting individuals in ways that go beyond conventional models of western psychology. I am not a licensed mental health professional, nor am I affiliated with any medical or psychological boards. I do offer a warm and challenging space for those who feel called to become more curious about their journey. Our work together will be fueled by curiosity and a shared desire to find graceful, sacred, and playful ways to navigate life's adventures.
